STERLING SHIELD Sterling is a unicorn stallion and a sergeant in the Royal Guard. However, he is also a changeling from the Red Hive and an agent for Queen Carpacia. While he is ultimately bound to obey his queen, nevertheless his assignment is benign and he is a loyal Royal Guard. After revealing himself to the Triarchs, they utilize him to facilitate negotiations between the Crown and the various hives through Carpacia's connections.
