PRINCESS GILDA

Gilda was a childhood friend of Rainbow Dash, both having attended flight school in Cloudsdale. Years later, after a failed attempt to reconnect with Dash in Ponyville due to her abrasive personality, she went home to Griffonstone. There, she found she did not quite fit in anymore due to the influence of her pony education. However, it did motivate her to try to make something of her life where most griffons merely did as little as possible to get by. She started a bakery, the success of which led to bigger and better things. She began hiring help including her friends Greta and Gabby. She started other businesses and employed an increasing number of Griffonstonians. With increasing prosperity, more and more griffons started to care about the state their country was in.

Gilda's efforts to turn around her home country's fortunes started bearing fruit and, despite her protests, they elected her as the leader of their community. The opening of a bank branch in their city was an indication of growth in the economy, but they still needed a huge injection of funds and aid to rebound from the economic depression that had gripped the nation for decades. To facilitate this, Gilda proposed that Griffonstone become an independent commonwealth of Equestria, just like the Crystal Empire. Her Equestrian education allowed her to understand the benefits of it, but that didn't stop a furor among the citizens. Some strongly supported her while others were as vehemently opposed to the idea. Her side won simply because they were progressive and prepared to put effort into the new system whereas the ones who wanted to retain the status quo weren't nearly as motivated. However, Gilda almost lost her marbles when her supporters wanted to make her Queen of Griffonstone in order to revive the royal throne. She told them to stick their beaks where the sun didn't shine, but they still had the last laugh. She griped that she had nevertheless been made a Princess instead because the griffons felt that the Equestrians had to deal with the Griffonstonians on an equal basis.

Gilda sent Gallus to Twilight Sparkle's School of Friendship. She later married Satin Plume, a Canterlot griffon Royal Guard who had been sent to train a squad of griffons for the newly reformed Griffonstone Guard. Gilda soon fell pregnant and they had a son they named Glenn.

Gilda has a counterpart in the anthro world who is into tight leather outfits.
