PRINCESS LUNA SELENE

Luna Selene is an alicorn princess of an alternate universe. In trying to go back a thousand years to prevent herself from falling victim to Nightmare Moon, she instead was caught up in a time-loop spell that had her repeating the same day over and over for years until Prince Mark Wells and Princess Twilight Sparkle rescued her by bringing her back to their universe through the interdimensional portal, thus breaking the spell.

In gratitude to Mark, and in no small way attracted to the stallion, Luna vowed to give him many foals. Mark had no intention of taking another mare into his herd, but his mates convinced him to give her a chance if she got to know him better first. So she spent as much time with Mark as she could squeeze in, and they found themselves to be compatible. With his herdmates' approval, Mark took Luna into his herd. A few days later, she went into heat and is pregnant with their first foal.

Luna is informally nicknamed "Loopy" but in formal situations, she may be referred to by her second name – Selene. This is so she does not get confused with her local counterpart, the retired princess Luna.
